The stylized, almost simplistic, language used in this story immediately sets the tone of an adult, twisted version of an old-fashioned fairy tale. I was surprised at how strongly I fell for Lord Death in this book—and how I find myself thinking about him and Keturah months after reading it. I moved closer, he stopped and checked my approach.
